The Club Sports program at WashU Recreation supports 40 wide-ranging clubs. Each club varies in its level of competition and commitment requirements, but every club offers an opportunity to represent WashU and challenges you to learn a new skill or improve your abilities in a specific sport. The social aspect of joining a club sport allows students to meet new people on campus, create lifelong friendships, and become an active member in the WashU community. There is information below on specific club sports and contact information or students can complete this Club Sport Interest Form.
Club Sports are run for students, by students. Students who are motivated by a common interest develop, govern, and administer a club sport in conjunction with WashU Recreation through the RecSports office. The RecSports office assists in the growth, development, and implementation of every club, but the emphasis is on student leadership and involvement – the existence and success of each club sport is dependent upon student interest, participation, and effective leadership of its club officers.
Club Sports provide a range of learning experience for members through their involvement in teamwork, fundraising, public relations, organization administration, budgeting, and scheduling, as well as through the development of skills in their particular sport. Every member in a club can learn new skills and improve existing skills. Students are encouraged to grow their leadership, communication, decision making, organizational, problem solving, and team building abilities.
The majority of Club Sports engage in competition at home and away events; competing against universities around the country. Several tournament, conference and national championships are won every year. Many clubs provide a recreational space for members who want to be non-competitive and enjoy the social aspect of clubs.

Club Sports Board
The Club Sports Board's (CSB) purpose is to represent the interests of all club sport student-athletes, to bring them closer through their shared experiences, and to advocate for them in an organized, collective manner. The CSB serves to build and maintain a bond between individual clubs, foster growth, friendships, provide uniquely educational activities and promote its student-athletes.
A Club Sport is a group of primarily undergraduate students at WashU who are a recognized student group by SU and have been accepted by the CSB. The CSB will be comprised of an executive officer from each club sport and have an Executive Committee.
