WashU offers two men's ultimate teams, Contra and Contraband. Contra is a competitive team that requires a tryout process that is held at the beginning of each academic year. Contraband is an open team that focuses on developing skills while having fun. Both teams travel to about 4 tournaments a semester in cities like Denver, Austin, or Santa Barbara.
Contra being a highly competitive team has high expectations for attendance and success. They previously have qualified for D-I College Nationals in the 2022, 2024, and 2025 seasons with hopes to continue that success. We encourage anyone, even those without an ultimate frisbee background, to come to tryouts and join the frisbee community! For more information, email us at

Contraband is the open men's club ultimate frisbee team at WashU. We are a no-cut team that welcomes both new and experienced players of all levels who are looking for a fun and relaxing, yet competitive ultimate experience. At practice, we go over every aspect of ultimate and will meet you where you are to teach you what you need to be a successful player. Outside of our love for playing the game, Contraband has frequent team dinners and bonding experiences, a host of traditions, and social events with the members of the WashU Ultimate community and other campus groups. Contra and Contraband along with the women's program (WUWU) make up what is popularly called WashU State. This frisbee community is one of the largest club sports and larger student groups on campus. It is a very welcoming, friendly and fun environment that is open to people from all backgrounds!
