Bear Beats: Episode 5; For Competition Through Oct. 4

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The fifth episode for the 2026-27 year will feature men's and women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's cross country, golf, and men's and women's tennis.

On the horizon:
 
No. 1 Women's Soccer
  • WashU will have a few days to rest after back-to-back contests on the road as they have only one contest this week on Saturday, Oct. 10 at home when it hosts Case Western Reserve.
  • The game is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start on Francis Olympic Field.
  • The contest is serving as the team's The Hidden Opponent (THO) contest as well as its Love Wins game.

No. 10 Volleyball
  • The Bears are on the road all week, beginning with a midweek contest at Westminster (Mo.) on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
  • WashU and the Bluejays are scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Fulton, Mo.

  • The team will then travel back to New York for the UAA Round Robin #2, hosted by NYU in the Big Apple on Sunday, Oct. 11.
  • All the matches will take place in the John A. Paulson Center.
  • WashU will first face off against Case Western Reserve at 12 p.m. ET

  • In their final match of the weekend, the Bears will take on No. 16 Chicago at 2 p.m. ET

Men's Soccer
  • WashU remains on the road to open the week on Wednesday, Oct. 7 when it travels across the city to take on Webster in their final non-conference match of the regular season.
  • The match is being played at the WWT Soccer Park in Fenton with a scheduled kickoff for 6 p.m.

  • The Bears will then return home on Saturday, Oct. 10 when they host Case Western Reserve in a UAA matchup on Francis Olympic Field.
  • The game is scheduled for a 10 a.m. kickoff.

Women's & Men's Tennis
  • Both WashU tennis teams will be participating in the WTN Open from Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 11.
  • The tournament is being played at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.
