Bear Beats: Episode 5; For Competition Through Sept. 21

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The fifth episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's swimming and diving.

On the horizon:
 
No. 7 Women's Soccer
  • WashU remains on the road this weekend when they travel to Danville, Ky. for a contest against Centre on Saturday, Sept. 27.
  • Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
  • The Bears are 3-0 all-time against Centre, including a 2-1 win over the Colonels at home last season.

No. 7 Volleyball
  • WashU kicks off the first of three UAA Round Robins this weekend when it travels to Atlanta to take on three conference opponents on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28.
  • The Bears first face off against RV NYU on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. ET

  • They follow up with a 3 p.m. ET contest against Rochester.

  • They close out the weekend on Sunday with a 12 p.m. ET match against RV Chicago.

No. 8 Women's and No. 28 Men's Cross Country
  • Both cross country teams hit the road this Friday when they take on the competition at the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Missouri.
  • The men's 8K race gets underway at 8:15 a.m.
  • The women's 6K race gets underway at 9 a.m.

RV Football
  • WashU is back home this weekend when it hosts No.1 North Central on Saturday, Sept. 27. at 1 p.m.
  • The contest is part of the Parent and Family Weekend activities on campus.
  • The Cardinals are the defending NCAA Div. III National Champions and are also currently 2-0 on the season.
  • Last year, WashU fell 49-9 to North Central on the road in Naperville, Ill.

RV Men's Soccer
  • WashU is back on the road to start the week with a Tuesday evening contest at Principia.
  • Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
  • The Bears are 10-1 all-time against the Panthers

  • The Bears will then stay in the area, but still on the road on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Fenton to take on Webster at 6 p.m.
  • The contest will take place on the main field at the WWT Soccer Complex.

Women's Tennis
  • WashU wraps up action hosting the ITA Regionals on Monday.
  • For the first time in program history, the Bears will have two doubles teams in the Regional Final when the team of junior Eleanor Archer and sophomore Caitlin Bui takes on sophomore Ally Lin and senior Eliana Hanna.
  • That match will take place later this week.
  • Hanna also will play for a singles regional title on Monday at 12:30 p.m.

Men's Tennis
  • The is back on the road this weekend when they compete at the ITA Fall Regional in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Friday, Sept. 26 through Monday, Sept. 29.
  • The finalist from both the singles and doubles competitions will advance to the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga. on Oct. 16-19.
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving
  • WashU opens up its 2025-26 season when both the men's and women's programs travel across the city to the Simon Rec Center at St. Louis University on Saturday, Sept. 27.
  • The dual meets get underway at 12 p.m.
  • The men defeated the Billikens last season 142-95 while the women knocked off SLU 162-81.
