TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The No. 8 Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team finished third at the annual Jim McNichols Invite on Saturday. The Bears faced several NCAA Division I programs in the 6K race. WashU finished with 84 points among the 11 teams present.
Miami (Ohio) and Indiana State finished in a tie for first with 37 points apiece. After the Bears, Eastern Illinois was fourth with 108 points, and Evansville rounded out the top five with 147 points.
Sophomore
Lucinda Laughlin was the first Bear to finish, with a time of 22:15.97 in ninth place. Not far behind her was senior
Jillian Heth, who completed the course in 22:24.45 to take home a 12th place finish.
Senior
Katie Rector was next and crossed the finish line in 18th place with a time of 22:44.37. It was back-to-back for WashU in 22nd and 23rd place as sophomore
Lauren Raley and junior
Vivienne Larson finished in times of 23:01.11 and 23:02.12, respectively.
WashU will have a quick turnaround and compete on Friday, Sept. 26, when they travel to the Gans Creek Classic hosted by Mizzou in Columbia, Mo. The women's 6K begins at 11:15 a.m.
