Bear Beats: Episode 3, For Competition Through Sept. 20

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The second episode for the 2026-27 year will feature men's and women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's cross country, golf, men's and women's tennis

On the horizon:

No. 1 Women's Soccer
  • WashU wraps up its three-game homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 23 when it takes on Millikin at 7 p.m.
  • Prior to the contest, WashU will have its Directors' Cup Celebration on campus with the 2025-26 trophy making its way across campus to Francis Olympic Field in time for the contest with the Big Blue.

  • The Bears then hit the road to face Centre in Danville, Ky. on Friday, Sept. 25.
  • The game with the Colonels is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.

No. 13 Volleyball
  • The Bears have hit the first of three UAA Round Robins this season when they travel to Rochester to take on three conference opponents on Saturday, Sept. 26 and Sunday, Sept. 27.
  • WashU will take on No. 14 Emory on Friday at 11 a.m. ET before taking on Brandeis at 3 p.m. ET.

  • The Bears final match of the weekend on Sunday is against (RV) NYU at 12 p.m. ET

No. 20/23 Football
  • The Bears remain on the road this week when they visit Oberlin on Saturday, Sept. 26.
  • Kickoff with the Yeomen is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET at Dick Bailey Field in Oberlin, Ohio.
  • WashU is 4-0 all-time against Oberlin, claiming the last matchup 24-21 on the road during the 2011 season.

Men's Soccer
  • WashU has a quick weekend turnaround with a Tuesday contest at Principia on Sept. 22.
  • Game time at the Panthers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Elsah, Ill.
  • The Bears have won the last eight meetings, including a 5-0 win in 2024 at Francis Olympic Field.

  • After the midweek contest, WashU will be back home on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they host Central on Francis Olympic Field.

Women's Tennis
  • WashU is on the road this weekend when it takes part in the 2026 ITA Fall Regional, hosted by Kalamazoo at Stowe Stadium.
  • The three-day tournament features teams from the ITA Central Region.
  • The singles and doubles champions and runners-ups advance to the ITA Cup in October.
