Women's Cross Country

No. 10 WashU Women's Cross Country Runs at McNichols Invite

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team competed at the John McNichols Invite, hosted by Indiana State University on Saturday.
 
The day featured a championship race and an open race, both 6,000m and both featured largely Division I runners.
 
Championship 6,000m
The top Bear in the championship race was junior Lucinda Laughlin, who ran a time of 22:09.7 for 120th overall.
 
First-year Lucy Luetkemeyer ran a time of 22:18.6, finished 132nd overall. Junior Lauren Raley finished with a time of 22:36.0 for 150th overall. Junior Sally Carrington ran a time of 22:43.6 for 163rd overall.
 
Also running in the championship race were sophomore Lucy Peterson (22:52.9), sophomore Taylor Buese (23:00.1), junior Maddy Lee (23:08.8), senior Avery Nason (23:19.4) and sophomore Leah Sekulich (23:31.1).
 
Open 6,000m
Junior Sofia Sheldon was the top WashU finisher in the open, finishing 39th in 23:04.2.
 
A trio of Bears finished 52nd-54th, starting with junior Mackenzie Raue in 52nd with a time of 23:38.8. Junior Grace Todd followed with a time of 23:40.3 and senior Lily Dipple ran a time of 23:40.5.
 
Also running in the open were senior Amelie Maltz (23:46.7), first-year Madeline Cassidy (23:48.4), first-year Chloe Hamilton (23:50.3), sophomore Anna McAndrew (24:15.4), senior Kira Larner (24:39.4) and first-year Piper Stevens (26:18.0).
 
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, October 3 at the Running of the Cows (pre-nationals championship) hosted by Carleton.
