Bear Beats: Episode 9; For Competition Through Oct. 19

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The ninth episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's cross country, women's tennis, and golf.

No. 2 Women's Soccer
  • The Bears are on the road for one last regular season weekend on Friday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Rochester and Emory, respectively.
  • On Friday, WashU faces off against the No. 21 Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. ET.
  • Last season, the Bears picked up the 2-0 shutout of Rochester in New York.

  • On Sunday, the Bears will be in Atlanta to take on the Eagles.
  • Kickoff with No. 1 Emory is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET
  • Last year, the Bears got a goal in each half en route to a 2-1 win in Atlanta.

No. 3 Golf
  • WashU is on the course today and tomorrow, Oct. 20 and 21, at the Historic Triangle Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.
  • The two-day event is being held at The Kingsmill Resort.
  • This is the final competition for the team until the spring season.

No. 4 Men's Soccer
  • WashU hits the road for one final weekend during the regular season when they travel to take on both Rochester and No. 3 Emory.
  • On Friday, Oct. 24 the Bears will first visit New York to take on the Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. ET.
  • Last season, Rochester escaped with a 1-0 win over the Bears in New York.

  • WashU will then travel to Atlanta on Sunday, Oct. 26 for a showdown with the Eagles.
  • Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET
  • Last year, Emory used a second half surge to come from behind for a 5-2 win.

No. 13 Volleyball
  • The Bears are home one final time during the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 21 when they host No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan in non-conference action.
  • First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Field House.
  • Last season, WashU secured a 3-1 win over the Titans in Bloomington, winning the final two sets.
  • The contest is also serving as the team's THO contest.
  • THO helps bring awareness towards mental health.

  • WashU will then hit the road for three contests over the weekend beginning with a midday contest at North Park on Friday, Oct. 24
  • First serve is at 12:30 p.m.

  • The Bears will then have a pair of matches on Sunday, Oct. 26 when they take part in the UAA Round Robin #3 at Chicago.
  • First up WashU will face off against Brandeis at 10 a.m.
  • The match will take place on the East Court.

  • The Bears will have a match break before taking on No. 9 Emory at 2 p.m.

RV Football
  • WashU returns to the road for its next two contests, starting with a visit to No. 22 Wheaton on Saturday, Oct. 25.
  • Kickoff with the Thunder is scheduled for 1 p.m. at McCully Stadium.
  • A year ago, WashU's comeback fell just shy as the Thunder escaped Francis Olympic Field with a 27-20 win over the Bears.
  • Both teams enter the contest with a 4-1 record in the CCIW with WashU being 5-1 overall and Wheaton is 4-2 overall.
