ROME, Ga. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team advanced two singles players and a doubles team on Saturday at the ITA Cup.
Singles
Junior
Eleanor Archer was leading 5-0 on NYU's Victoria Wang and moves to the West bracket semifinal after Wang retired due to injury. She will face Chicago's Sarena Biria tomorrow in the bracket final.
Senior
Eliana Hanna dropped the first set 3-6 to Carnegie Mellon's Jane Ling Chun Wong before winning the second set 6-4. Hanna was up 1-0 before Wong retired due to injury. She moves on to face MIT's Fiona Lee tomorrow in the North bracket final.
Doubles
The duo of Archer and sophomore
Caitlin Bui defeated Bethel's Lauryn Douglas and Michaella Sullivan 6-0, 6-3 in the semifinal of the West bracket.
Hanna and sophomore
Ally Linn fell in the West bracket semifinal 6-4, 3-6, 6-10.
The consolation brackets at the ITA Cup will not finish, ending the Bears time in Georgia.
The Bears wrap up the WTN Open at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. Today's action was rained out.
