ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The incoming weather did not stop the No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team on Saturday at the Augustana Interregional Invitational in Rock Island, Ill. at the Saukie Golf Club.
The Bears finished the top women's race (Gold) in fourth place with 169 team points.
No. 6 Wis.-La Crosse was the top team with just 88 points, while No. 17 Trine was runner-up with 108 points. No. 7 Chicago (3rd – 127 points), WashU, and No. 22 Colorado College (5th – 205 points) rounded out the top five teams. A total of 40 teams, including 11 nationally-ranked teams, took part in the race.
Jules Bleskoski of No. 25 RPI was the first individual to cross the finish line with a time of 20:47.4.
Sophomore
Lucinda Laughlin was the top Bear and the top finisher from a UAA school, finishing the course in fourth place with a time of 21:47.2. Also finishing in the top 20 for WashU, senior
Jillian Heth placed 18th with a time of 22:11.2.
Sophomore
Maddy Lee was next for the Bears, placing 43rd with a time of 22:50.1.
Senior Katie Record (50th – 22:54.5) and sophomore
Lauren Raley (56th – 22:59.4) rounded out the point scorers for WashU.
In the second women's race (Blue), the Bears moved up one spot to finish in third place among the 28 teams sending runners onto the course. WashU finished with 63 points. UW-La Crosse was the top team in this race as well, finishing with 39 points to edge out runner-up Chicago, which had 40 points.
Senior
Riley Clark was the top runner for WashU in this race, with a time of 22:48.6.
WashU will next host the 2025 UAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the SIUE Cross Country Course in Edwardsville, Ill. The men's 8K gets underway at 11 a.m., with the women's 6K race starting at approximately 12 p.m.
