ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team closed out its trip to the East Coast with a 5-2 win over No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Sunday morning. The Bears are now 13-1 on the season.
Doubles
No. 7 junior
Eleanor Archer and sophomore
Caitlin Bui defeated No. 21 Kamila Wong and Ava Li 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
No. 11 senior
Eliana Hanna and sophomore
Ally Lin beat No. 6 Sahana Madala and Claire Loftus 7-6 at No. 2 doubles.
No. 18 sophomore
Sam Slowik and
Lily Brecknock defeated Lia Melvin and Sydney Langer 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Singles
No. 8 Hanna beat No. 30 Melvin 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and No. 17 Archer won in a walk over, falling 7-5 in the first set to Ava Li before winning the second set 6-4. The third set was tied 4-4 before Li retired.
No. 45 Lin defeated Langer 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and senior
Nina Moravek beat Aubrey Zhou 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
Bui fell to Madala 3-6, 4-6 at No. 3 singles and senior
Amber Edmonds lost to Isabel He 2-6, 2-6 at No. 5 singles.
The Bears are home next weekend for a pair of matches, starting with Chicago on Saturday at 10 a.m. On Sunday, WashU hosts Grinnell at 10 a.m., which will be senior day.
