TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2025-26 national award winners on Wednesday and the Bears received two.
Assistant Coach
Erin Swaller was named ITA Assistant Coach of the Year and senior
Amber Edmonds was received the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award. This marks the first time a Bear has received either award.
Swaller has been part of the WashU women's tennis program since 2007 when she joined the Bears as a player, earning her bachelor's degree in anthropology, followed by her master's degree in public health.
In her time as an assistant coach, Swaller has seen seven NCAA Tournament Appearances (2010, 2011, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2024, 2025 and 2026). The Bears have made five NCAA Elite Eight appearances (2016, 2017, 2024, 2025 and 2026), including the program's first national title in 2025.
This season, Swaller helped guide the Bears to a 21-4 overall record, a second-straight trip to the national title match and a runner-up finish. Additionally, four players earned NCAA All-America honors.
Edmonds finished her senior season with a 15-5 singles record, including an 8-4 record at No. 5 singles. Off the court she is the Vice President of WashU Second Serve, the Vice President of Marketing for The Women's Network, part of the WashU Marketing Association and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Edmonds recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration after making the Dean's List each semester of college and picking up back-to-back College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
