ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The 23rd episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's tennis, and softball.

No. 1 Women's Tennis

On the horizon:
No. 1 Women's Tennis
- WashU hits the road for the first time this spring for a pair of games this weekend against No. 16 Kenyon and DePauw.
- Both matches will take place in Greencastle, Ind. on the campus of DePauw on Sunday, Feb. 15.
- The Bears take on the nationally-ranked Owls at 9 a.m. ET before playing the host Tigers at 1 p.m. ET
- Last season WashU defeated Kenyon in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament, 4-0, while defeating the Tigers at home on Feb. 15, 7-0.

No. 2 Women's and No. 7 Men's Indoor Track & Field
- The Bears will send a number of athletes to the Midwest Elite Invite hosted by UW Whitewater this Saturday, Feb. 14.
- Field events get underway at 10 a.m. with the Weight Throw and Shot Put while the running events start at 1 p.m. with the hurdles prelims.

No. 10 Women's and No. 14 Men's Swimming and Diving
- The quest for a UAA Championship begins this Wednesday, Feb. 11 when both swimming and diving teams travel to Chicago for the UAA Championships.
- Times and scores will also look to be trimmed as individuals and relays look to secure NCAA championship qualifying marks.
- The meet will take place over four days at the Myers-McLoraine Pool on the campus of Chicago.

No. 15 Women's Basketball
- WashU is home for a pair of UAA contests this weekend as the Bears welcome Carnegie Mellon on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Case Western Reserve on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 12 p.m.
- The Tartans escaped with a 64-61 win at home against the WashU back on Jan. 16.
- Junior Lexy Harris scored her 1,000th career point against CMU while scoring 37 points and 21 rebounds.

- On Sunday the Bears will look to wrap up the weekend on a high note with another win over CWRU.
- WashU secured a 66-52 win over the Spartans back on Jan. 18 in Cleveland.

No. 16 Men's Tennis
- Despite being in St. Louis, WashU will be the visitors this Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Missouri Athletic Club when the Bears take on the Billikens of Saint Louis University.
- The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
- The last time the Bears and Billikens played was Apr. 16, 2001 with WashU leaving with a 5-2 win.

No. 20 Men's Basketball
- WashU is home for a pair of UAA contests this weekend as the Bears welcome Carnegie Mellon on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Case Western Reserve on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 12 p.m.
- Earlier this season, the Bears dropped a 64-61 heartbreaker to the Tartans on Jan. 16.

No. 24 Softball
- WashU kicks off the 2026 season this Saturday, Feb. 14 with a double header against Illinois College at the WashU Softball Field
- The games are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
- Last season, the Bears earned a pair of wins, 5-1 and 3-1, over the Lady Blues in St. Louis.
