CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team started off the spring slate with a 7-0 sweep of Kalamazoo on Saturday evening at Forest Lake Tennis Club.
DOUBLES
No. 7 junior
Eleanor Archer and sophomore
Caitlin Bui defeated Addison Lyons and Juliana Pullen 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
No. 11 senior
Eliana Hanna and sophomore
Ally Lin beat Eleni Bougioukou and Daryn Krause 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
No. 18 first-year
Lily Brecknock and sophomore
Sam Slowik defeated Peja Liles and Soussana Kimbouris 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.
SINGLES
No. 17 Archer topped Pullen 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and No. 8 Hanna defeated Lyons 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Bui beat Molly Stevison 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Lin defeated Kimbouris 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Senior
Nina Moravek shut out Krause 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and senior
Amber Edmonds defeated Liles 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Next weekend, the Bears travel to Greencastle, Ind. for a pair of matches on Sunday, February 15. They will face No. 16 Kenyon at 9 a.m. ET before taking on host team DePauw at 1 p.m. ET.
