Bear Beats: Episode 25, For Competition Through Feb. 22

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The 25th episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor track and field, women's tennis, baseball, softball, and golf.

On the horizon:
 
No. 1 Women's Tennis
  • WashU is on the road this weekend competing at the ITA Div. III National Women's Team Indoor Championship on Friday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, Mar. 1
  • The tournament is taking place at the Farm and Forge Tennis Club in College Grove, Tenn.
  • The Bears will start their tournament with a match against No. 27 Sewanee on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

No. 3 Women's and No. 11 Men's Indoor Track & Field
  • The women will look to win their seventh-straight UAA Indoor Championship while the men hope to claim their first indoor title since 2023 this weekend.
  • The 2026 UAA Indoor Championships are taking place Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1 at the Gosman Athletic Center in Waltham, Mass. on the campus of Brandeis.

No. 10 Women's Swimming and Diving
  • Two divers of the WashU women's swimming and diving team qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals this weekend.
  • The two day event takes place Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1 at the Brown Aquatic Center on the campus of Emory in Atlanta, Ga.
No. 16 Women's Basketball
  • WashU is back home this Saturday, Feb. 28 for its final home game of the regular season when they welcome No. 19 Chicago to the Field House.
  • Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
  • The Bears opened UAA play earlier this season with a 68-39 win over the Maroons
  • The game is part of Senior Day, Black History Month Celebration Game, and Alumnae Day.

No. 24 Softball
  • After sweeping Wartburg over the weekend, WashU will look to do the same on Sunday Mar. 1 when it hosts Grinnell in a doubleheader.
  • First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
  • The last time the teams met in 2024, the Bears picked up a 4-1 win in St. Louis.

(RV) Men's Basketball
  • WashU is back home this Saturday, Feb. 28 for its final home game of the regular season when they welcome No. 6 Chicago to the Field House.
  • Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
  • The Bears opened UAA play earlier this season dropping an 85-62 contest to the Maroons.
  • The game is part of Senior Day and Black History Month Celebration Game

(RV) Baseball
  • WashU will play its home opener on Saturday, Feb. 28  at 2 p.m. when it welcomes Coe to begin a three-game series.
  • The two teams will then play a doubleheader on Sunday, Mar. 1 starting at 11 a.m.
  • The teams have split the last four games with the Kohawks claiming the game last season , 9-8.
