PINEHURST, N.C. – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis golf team won the Centre College Classic by 11 strokes, opening the first tournament of the spring slate with a win. The Bears posted a two-day score of 594 and were the lone team to finish below 600.
Competition was held at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Pinehurts, N.C. which is a par 72 course spanning 6,089 yards.
The Bears had two top-2 finishes, led by junior
Amy Beanblossom who won the field with a two-day score of 139 (69, 70). First-year
Saxon Skinner tied for second with a 148 (71, 77).
Sophomore
Nicole McGuire and first-year
Jessy Young finished in a three-way tie for 11
th with a 154. McGuire carded a 76 on day one and a 78 on day two while Young finished with a 75 on day one and a 79 on day two.
Senior
Tiffany Chan finished 14
th, posting a score of 155 (77, 78).
WashU heads to Savannah, Ga. on Monday, March 9 and Tuesday March 10 for the Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College at The Club at Savannah Harbor.
