Top Marks Recorded For No. 11 WashU Men's Indoor Track & Field At IC Hilltop Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – In the final tuneup for the UAA Championships, the No. 11 Washington University in St. Louis men's indoor track and field team competed at the annual IC Hilltop Invite on Friday evening at King Fieldhouse on the campus of Illinois College.

No team scores were kept.

Top Finishes:
  • High Jump
    • Senior Jalen Dural finished fifth with a clear of 1.83m
  • Pole Vault
    • The event belonged to the Bears with the top five finishers, led by senior George Bourdier and his clear of 5.01m
    • Classmate Hayden Kunkel was runner-up also with a clear of 5.01m, but due to tiebreakers finished second
    • Graduate Tommaso Maiocco was third with a height of 4.96m
    • Sophomore Zachary Duckworth and junior Peter Lichtenberger rounded out the top five with clears of 4.96m and 4.76m, respectively
  • Long Jump      
  • Triple Jump
    • First-year Benjamin Long finished fifth with a jump of 12.66m while senior Jalen Dural was sixth with a jump of 12.61m
  • Weight Throw
    • Sophomore Ian Murphy finished in 11th place with his throw of 13.78m
  • Mile
    • Sophomore Caleb Brox won with his time of 4:21.67
    • First-year William Newkirk finished in fourth place with his time of 4:27.75
    • Classmate Rishi Shadaksharappa was the third Bear in the top 10 with his time of 4:34.60 in ninth place
  • 400m
  • 60m Hurdles
  • 60m    
    • First-year Logan Fairchild won with his time of 7.14
    • Classmate Aedan Virgulto finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place with a time of 7.36
  • 800m
  • 3000m
    • Sophomore Ben Lorenz claimed the win with his time of 8:38.33
    • First-year Gavin O'Connor was runner-up with his mark of 8:42.28
    • Classmate Ulysses Klebeck was third with a time of 8:50.44 as the Bears claimed the top three spots
  • 4x400m
    • The team of Lasack, senior Davin Hickman-Chow, Zavadoski, and senior Brandon Brazil won the event for WashU with a time of 3:27.71
    • In third place was the team of Hordon, Newkirk, Bettinger, and first-year Keon Preusser with a time of 3:32.77
 
WashU will next look to claim the 2026 UAA Indoor Championship on Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1 at the Gosman Center on the campus of Brandeis in Waltham, Mass.
