Bui, Archer Earn ITA All-America Honors

GILBERT, Ariz. – Sophomore Eleanor Archer and first-year Caitlin Bui earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America honors, the organization announced on Thursday. Archer and Bui were integral parts of the women's tennis team's incredible run to win a national championship two weeks ago and are the first All-Americans for the program since 2018. Women's tennis now has 25 All-Americans in program history.
 
Bui earned All-America honors for both doubles and singles while Archer earned the honor for doubles.
 
The selection criteria for Division III All-Americans is the following: top 8 seed in the NCAA singles tournament, win one round at the NCAA singles tournament, finish in the Top 20 in the final ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, win ITA Fall Regional Tournament, or win a first-round match at the ITA National Small College Championships (ITA Cup). All-American honors are awarded to doubles teams that are a top 4 seed in NCAA doubles tournament, win one round at the NCAA doubles tournament, finish in the Top 10 in the final ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, win the ITA Fall Regional Tournament, or win a first-round match at the ITA National Small College Championships.
 
In the fall, Bui and Archer won the program's first-ever ITA Cup Doubles Championship and remained in the top five nationally all season, checking in at No. 3 in the final ITA rankings. As a duo playing No. 1 doubles, Bui and Archer went 28-5 on the season with a 20-3 mark in dual matches. Before falling in the NCAA Individual Championship, the pair was on a 17-match winning streak, including all three matches on the NCAA finals.
 
At singles, Bui primarily played at No. 2, finishing 20-6 overall with a 15-5 mark at No. 2 singles and a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles. In the final ITA poll, Bui ranked No. 17.
 
As a team, the Bears won their first-ever national title with a win over No. 3 Pomona-Pitzer. WashU also upended No. 1 and defending national champion Chicago as well as No. 9 Johns Hopkins in the process.
