KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It is still awards season for the No. 12 Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team as a pair of Bears have been honored by the United Soccer Coaches as NCAA Div. III All-Americans for their play this year.
Juniors
Quentin Gomez and
Ethan Wirtschafter both were honored by the United Soccer Coaches. Gomez was a Second Team selection while Wirtschafter earned Fourth Team honors. Both were named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region VIII earlier this week. These are the first All-American nods for both players and the first for WashU since 2021.
Following the NCAA Tournament, Gomez, the UAA Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-UAA selection, guided the WashU defense to nine shutouts, including ones against three nationally-ranked teams, two of which were in the top three. He helped WashU allow only 16 goals all season. Gomez has also been a spark on the offensive side of the pitch, scoring five goals. He played all 90 minutes in 13 of his 17 games this season.
Wirtschafter earned his selection after scoring 14 goals, including four game-winners, and recording an assist this season. He played and started 18 games this season and finished with 29 points, the best on the Bears. His 14 goals are the most of any player in the UAA this season. He was named to the All-UAA First Team earlier this fall.
WashU finished the season with a 14-4-1 record after winning the 2025 UAA Championship and advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2007.
