No. 12 WashU Men's Soccer Sees Five Named All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Awards keep rolling in for the No. 12 Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team after one of the most successful seasons in program history. Five members of the team earned United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Div. III Men's All-Region VIII honors, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.

Juniors Quentin Gomez and Ethan Wirtschafter were named to the First Team, senior Zach Susee was named to the Second Team, junior Cal L'Hommedieu was named to the Third Team, and first-year Sebastian Valdes was named to the Fourth Team.

Following the NCAA Tournament, Gomez, the UAA Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-UAA selection, guided the WashU defense to nine shutouts, including ones against three nationally-ranked teams, two of which were in the top three. He helped WashU allow only 16 goals all season. Gomez has also been a spark on the offensive side of the pitch, scoring five goals. He played all 90 minutes in 13 of his 17 games this season.

This marks Wirtschafter's first-career all-region nod after scoring 14 goals, including four game-winners, and recording an assist. He played and started 18 games this season and finished with 29 points, the best on the Bears. His 14 goals are the most of any player in the UAA this season. He was named to the All-UAA First Team earlier this fall.

Susee earns his second All-Region honor after being named to the Second Team a year ago. This season, he guided a Bears' offense that scored 38 goals while adding eight assists of his own. He played in 18 of the 19 contests for WashU this season while making 15 starts. He played all 90 minutes twice.

This is L'Hommedieu's first All-Region honor. He has started and played in all 19 of WashU's contests this season. L'Hommedieu has played every minute (1730:00) in goal for the Bears, making 55 saves. He has earned nine shutouts while finishing the regular season with a 13-3 record. He was named Second Team All-UAA following the regular season.

Valdes earned his honor after playing and starting all 19 games this season for the Bears. He scored one goal while assisting with seven others, tallying nine points. Earlier this fall, he was named Second Team All-UAA.

WashU finished the season with a 14-4-1 record after winning the 2025 UAA Championship and advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2007.
