About the Bears – Schedule / Roster / Stats
WashU is 14-3-1 on the year, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time since it hosted in 2007. Last weekend the Bears went to PK's in the First Round against UW Whitewater, advancing 3-1 over the regional hosts. In the second round, WashU defeated #3 Chicago for the second time in as many weeks after facing them in what was essentially a UAA championship game by the same score.

Ethan Wirtschafter leads the Bears in scoring with 14 goals this season, including four game-winners; one being against the Maroons last week. First-year
Daniel Kochen is second on the team with seven goals with five of them being game-winners this season. A total of 11 different Bears have scored this season.

Cal L'Hommedieu has played all 1,640:00 minutes in goal this season for WashU. He has tallied 53 saves with a 0.71 goals-against average. He has nine shutouts on the season thus far.
WashU and Trinity have played three times in program history, but not since the 2014 season. The Tigers own a 7-1-1 record over the Bears, including a win in the Sectional Final in 2007.
The Bears have never met Cortland or Augsburg on the soccer pitch.
Scouting Trinity (TX) – Schedule | Roster | Stats
Trinity enters the sectional with a 17-1-1 record, earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after failing to advance in PK's against Berry in the SAA semifinals.
The Tigers picked up a pair of shutouts last weekend in their regional. They scored five goals in the first round win over Hardin-Simmons before winning 2-0 over Texas Lutheran in the second round.
Samuel Theiss leads the team in goals this season with 14 and one assists for 29 points. Adam Knutson is second on the team with seven goals and four assists for 18 points while both Joey Perry man and Thomas Kay each of 10 points off of four goals, two assists and three goals and four assists, respectively. Jayden Schell has logged the most minutes for the Tigers, starting 14 games while playing in 18 for a total of 1294:26 minutes. He has made 20 saves for a 0.63 goals against average.
13 players earned All-SAA honors for Trinity with Knutson earning Offensive Player of the Year and Max Salinas earning Defensive Player of the Year honors. Head Coach Paul McGinlay was named the SAA Coach of the Year.
Scouting Augsburg – Schedule | Roster | Stats
The Auggies come to St. Louis with an 18-2-2 record on the season after receiving an at-large bid to the tournament after falling 2-1 to Saint John's University in the MIAC quarterfinals.
In last weekend's regional, Augsburg opened with a 3-1 win over Occidental with a pair of goals by Mitchel Munzing and one by Carver Tierney. The Auggies moved on to defeat Edgewood in the second round, 1-0 with another goal by Munzing.
Tierney leads the team with 18 goals and six assists for a total of 42 points. Six of his goals have been game-winners. Munzing is second on the team with 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points. He has also scored six game-winners this season. Christian Hodges has started all 22 games for Augsburg, playing 1960:25 minutes this season. He has made 99 saves with 13 shutouts and a 0.69 goals against average.
Six Auggies earned MIAC honors this season. Hodges, Munzing, Tierney, Mizael Harris, Jeffrey Richter, and Diego Veit all were selected by the MIAC. In addition Hodges earned Defensive Athlete of the Year Award.
Scouting Cortland – Schedule | Roster | Stats
The Red Dragons are 14-1-5 entering the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Cortland earned an at-large bid after failing to advance in PK's against Oneonta in the SUNYAC semifinals, 4-3.
Last weekend Cortland opened the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 win in overtime over SUNY-Delhi. Sam LaMendola scored the lone goal of the contest for Cortland. In the second round, the Red Dragons came from behind to win 2-1 over Catholic with goals by Owen Brant and Josh Carroll.
Carroll leads the squad in goals this season with 12 while adding three assists for a team-leading 27 points. Brant is second on the team with 12 points on four goals and four assists. Jordan Ott has started and played every minute for Cortland in goal. He has recorded 13 shutouts while making 84 saves with a 0.44 goals against average.
Six Red Dragons earned All-SUNYAC honors this season, led by Jordan Ott's Defensive Player of the Year and First Team selection. Carroll, La Mendola, Christian Napolitano, and Dylan Pederson all joined Ott on the First Team. Jake Hutter earned Second Team honors.
WashU vs. Remaining NCAA Playoff Field
The Bears have played three teams in the initial tournament bracket in Brandeis, Chicago, and Emory. Only one of those teams remain in the sectional round.
The 2025 Championship
A total 64 teams will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. Forty-three conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2025 championship. The other 21 berths were reserved for at-large selections designated by the NPI.

Sixteen four-team sites will conduct first- and second-round play on the first weekend of the championship, November 14 and 15 or 15 and 16. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites November 21 and 22 or 22 and 23. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals December 4 and 6, at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia, with Old Dominion Athletic Conference and City of Salem serving as hosts.
