NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS APP (ROKU)
TOURNAMENT PROGRAM
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the first time since 2021, the No. 12 Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team will be playing in the NCAA Tournament this weekend.
The Bears will travel to Whitewater, Wis., for the first and second rounds and will face off against the regional host Warhawks in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 3:30 p.m. The other regional first-round matchup features No. 3 Chicago and DePauw. That contest will also be on Saturday at 1 p.m. The winners will compete for a spot in the sectionals on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 3 p.m.

About the Bears - Schedule | Roster | Stats
WashU finished the regular season with a 13-3 overall record, including a 5-2 mark in the UAA to claim the 2025 UAA title. The Bears have scored 37 total goals this season while allowing just 13.
Junior
Ethan Wirtschafter led the team with 13 goals, while first-year
Daniel Kochen was second on the team with seven goals. Junior
James Whitehurst added four goals this season, including the game-winner over No. 3 Chicago in the de facto UAA championship game last Saturday.
On the defensive side, juniors
Quentin Gomez and
Cal L'Hommedieu guided the team to seven shutouts, including two against top-two ranked opponents. Gomez also showed his scoring prowess with five goals. L'Hommedieu played every minute this season in goal for the Bears, making 37 total saves.
Gomez and Kochen took home a pair of top UAA honors earlier this week. Gomez, a First Team All-UAA honoree, was named UAA Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight time, while Kochen earned UAA Rookie of the Year honors and a Second Team All-UAA nod. Scouting UW-Whitewater - Schedule | Roster | Stats
Currently sitting at 14-3-2, UW-Whitewater earned an at-large bid out of the WIAC after failing to advance on PKs to UW-Stevens Point in the WIAC semifinals. Earlier this season, the Warhawks defeated the Pointers 1-0 in Whitewater on Oct. 4.
Sitting at 16-3-2, UW-La Crosse earned the WIAC automatic bid after defeating UW-Platteville in the title game, 2-1. The Eagles posted a regular-season conference record of 6-0-1, tying with Platteville on Oct. 9.
Seven Warhawks were named to the All-WIAC Team: Cooper Re, Austin Waite, Luka Breslin, Mason Diercks, Zeke Healy, Hayden Saul, and Matt White all earned nods. In addition, Re was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while Waite earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors. The UW-Whitewater coaches were named the WIAC Coaching Staff of the Year as well.
Re leads the team with 16 goals and five assists for 37 points. Breslin finished the regular season with 18 points, scoring six goals and six assists. Tyler Chrisman leads the Warhawks in assists this season with eight to go along with two goals. In goal, Waite started 15 of the Warhawks' 19 games. He finished with an 11-2-2 record, making 50 saves and allowing 10 goals. Andres Comp and Thiago Vieira started the other four contests, with a combined 3-1-0 record with 17 saves and seven goals allowed.
Scouting Chicago - Schedule | Roster | Stats
Chicago, which enters the NCAA Tournament with an 11-2-5 record, earned an at-large bid after finishing second to WashU in the UAA standings. The Maroons finished the conference slate with a 4-1-2 record, falling to the Bears last Saturday and tying Carnegie Mellon (1-1) and Emory (1-1).
Six players were named to the All-UAA Teams: Eddie Wu was a First Team selection, while Alex Gomas, William Stewart, and Max Weene were Second Team honorees. Additionally, Ali Alamery and Nick Lorr received honorable mentions.
Wu shared the team lead in goals with five (tied with Chase Perry), while also sharing the team lead in assists with five (tied with Weene). Wu and Jadyn Hsieh-Bailey each took a team-high 32 shots this season. Alamery started all 18 contests for Chicago, making 59 saves while allowing 12 goals for a 0.68 goals-against average. He also collected eight shutouts this season.
Scouting DePauw - Schedule | Roster | Stats
Sitting at 12-2-5, DePauw earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning the NCAC, defeating No. 2 seed Denison in the championship game. This is the second year in a row that the Tigers have earned the automatic bid after winning the NCAC in 2024. DePauw fell to Hope, 2-0, in the NCAA Tournament First Round a year ago.
Sebastian Leon leads the team with 15 points (six goals, three assists), while Braden Murphey ranks second with 13 points (five goals, three assists). Leon and Harrison Engel share the team lead in shots on goal, each with 12. Sam Ortner started 18 of the team's 19 regular-season games. He finished with an 11-2-5 record, with seven shutouts. He made 50 saves while allowing 19 goals for a 1.09 goals-against average.

The Bears have three familiar faces in the NCAA playoff field: Brandeis, Chicago, and Emory.

The 2025 Championship
A total of 64 teams will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. Forty-three conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2025 championship. The other 21 berths were reserved for at-large selections designated by the NPI.
Sixteen four-team sites will conduct first- and second-round play on the first weekend of the championship, November 14 and 15 or 15 and 16. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites on November 21 and 22 or 22 and 23. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals on December 5 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia, with the ODAC and City of Salem as hosts. The national championship game will be played on Dec. 7.
