No. 1 WashU Women's Soccer to Host NCAA Regional This Weekend at Francis Olympic Field

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend at Francis Olympic Field.
 
The Bears welcome Loras, North Central and Wilmington to the Danforth Campus for a Saturday-Sunday regional. The winner of the regional will play the winner of the MIT regional next weekend in the Sweet 16.

About the Bears – Schedule | Roster | Stats
WashU begins its quest to repeat as national champions this weekend, starting with Wilmington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Heading into the program's 24th NCAA postseason, the Bears are 16-0-2 and finished the UAA slate with a 6-0-1 record, winning their third-straight UAA title. WashU secured the UAA championship on Saturday, Nov. 1 with a 3-1 win over NYU.
 
As a team, the Bears have scored 67 goals and held opponents to just six on the year. Twelve games this year have been shutouts and WashU opponents have totaled just 85 shots all season for a shot percentage of 0.071.
 
Sophomore Olivia Clemons leads the Bears and the UAA with 15 goals on the year to go with three assists for 33 points. Senior Grace Ehlert has 12 goals and two assists for 26 points, which ranks second among UAA players. Senior Ella Koleno has scored six goals and leads the UAA with 10 assists.
 
Sophomore Kassidy Lanthier has played in 14 games with 12 starts in goal, totaling 1,086 minutes, allowing just five goals with 16 saves, four shutouts and four combined shutouts.
 
Yesterday, UAA postseason awards were announced and the Bears were well-represented. Clemons repeated as the UAA Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the first team. She is the lone forward in WashU history to earn the same major award in consecutive seasons. Additionally, this marks Clemons' second-straight first team honor. Ehlert and junior Sophie Viscovich were also named to the first team while Koleno and sophomore Kate Martin picked up a spot on the second team. Junior Madi Foley and Lanthier both received an honorable mention.
 
Scouting Wilmington – Schedule | Roster | Stats
Wilmington enters the NCAA Tournament with a 12-5-4 record and posted a 4-2-2 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The Quakers are making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2003 after winning the OAC 3-2 over Ohio Northern.
 
Alex Wilson leads the scoring efforts for the Quakers with 12 goals and 28 points along with four assists. She has scored six game-winners. Jordan Snyder has scored 10 goals with five assists for 25 points and netted three game-winners.
 
Emma Storck has played and started in all 21 games in goal, tallying 1,870 minutes. She has allowed 26 goals and made 94 saves, racking up four shutouts and one combine shutout.
 
Wilson was named to the OAC First Team for the second year in a row, earning her fourth all-conference honor. Snyder and Lindsey Bauer both earned a spot on the second team.
 
Scouting Loras – Schedule | Roster | Stats
The Duhawks entered the postseason with a 15-1-2 record and finished 6-1-1 in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C). Loras won its fifth-straight A-R-C title with a 1-0 win over Dubuque last weekend.
 
Loras has outscored opponents 49-3 this season. Emerson Gasmann leads the team with eight goals and eight assists for 24 points, including two game-winners. Belle Johnson has seven goals and four assists for 18 points while Emily Bowe has scored eight goals and recorded one assists for 17 points.
 
In goal, Hannah Fedinec has played and started in all 18 games, totaling 1,552 minutes. She's allowed just three goals and made 41 saves, recording 11 shutouts with five combined.
 
Nine Duhawks earned A-R-C honors, led by Sierra Morgan who was the A-R-C Defensive MVP. Gasmann, Fedinec, Johnson, Katie Callahan and Ivy Wessel all earned a spot on the first team while Mary Clare Bean, Mayte Navejas and Bella Scesniak received an honorable mention.
 
Scouting North Central – Schedule | Roster | Stats
The Cardinals are currently 15-5 heading into the NCAA Tournament and went 8-0 in CCIW play. North Central defeated North Park 4-0 to win the CCIW for the third-straight year.
 
The Cardinals have outscored opponents 48-16 this season, led by Jordan Lange with 11 goals and nine assists for 31 points. Gabriella Mattio has scored nine goals with three assists for 21 points.
 
In goal, Lily Mattison has played and started in all 20 games, totaling 1,788 minutes. She has allowed 16 goals while making 82 saves and recording 1 shutouts.
 
North Central earned three major awards in the CCIW. Lange was named Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year, Kassandra Salviola earned Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year honors and Mattison was named Goalkeeper of the Year. Along with Lang, Salviola and Mattison, Madison DeVriendt and Kara Waishwell earned a spot on the first team. Mattio and Mackenzie Loomis were named to the second team.

The Bears have played 10 NCAA-bound teams this season, posting a 9-0-1 record: Calvin, Rose-Hulman, North Central, Rhodes, Case Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon, Rochester, Emory, NYU and Chicago.

The 2025 Championship
A total 64 teams will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. Forty-three conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2025 championship. The other 21 berths were reserved for at-large selections designated by the NPI.
 
Sixteen four-team sites will conduct first- and second-round play on the first weekend of the championship, November 14 and 15 or 15 and 16. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites November 21 and 22 or 22 and 23. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals December 4 and 6, at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia, with Old Dominion Athletic Conference and City of Salem serving as hosts.
