ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The seventh episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's cross country, and golf.

- WashU is back on the course today and tomorrow, Oct. 6 and 7, at the Tartan Invitational hosted by Carnegie Mellon.
- The event is taking place at the Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pa.
- Seven ranked teams are taking part in the two-day invitational, including four of the top five teams (all four are UAA members).

No. 5 Women's Soccer
- After returning home from a six-game road trip on Saturday, WashU is once again on the road this week for a pair of contests.
- First up is just a quick trip to Greenville on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
- The Bears kick off an early week contest with the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. in Greenville.
- WashU owns the all-time record between the teams at 8-0, including a 7-0 win at home last season.

- The Bears back in UAA action on Saturday, Oct. 11 when it pays a visit to No. 4 Case Western Reserve.
- The contest with the Spartans is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET | 11:30 a.m. CT
- WashU is 18-3 all-time against CWRU, including a 3-1 win last season at Francis Olympic Field.

No. 8 Women's & No. 20 Men's Cross Country
- WashU picked up a meet this week and will race at the Principia Twilight Meet on Wednesday, Oct. 8
- The meet will take place at the North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Ill.
- The men's 8K will begin at 4:30 p.m.
- The women's 6K will start at 5:30 p.m.

No. 10 Volleyball
- WashU is on the road for all three matches this week.
- First is a mid-week contest at Webster on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
- The Bears are 21-0 all-time against the Gorloks including a 3-1 win last season.
- Despite Webster playing at WashU three times this season, this will be the first match between the two in 2025.
- The Gorloks previously played at the Bear Invite and a neutral site match against Simpson.

- The Bears will then travel to Cleveland for the UAA Round Robin #2 on Sunday, Oct. 12.
- WashU will first face off against RV Carnegie Mellon at 12 p.m. ET | 11 a.m. CT.
- The Bears will immediately follow up against site host Case Western Reserve at 2 p.m. ET | 1 p.m. CT.

No. 11 Men's Soccer
- WashU is on the road for its lone contest of the week on Saturday, Oct. 11 when it travels to Case Western Reserve for a UAA matchup.
- Kick off against the Spartans in Cleveland is schedule for 10 a.m. ET | 9 a.m. CT.
- Last season, the teams both scored in the second half as the contest at Francis Olympic Field ended in a 1-1 draw.

RV Football
- WashU is on the road on Saturday, Oct. 11 when it pays a visit to Carthage in Kenosha, Wis.
- Kick off with the Firebirds is scheduled for 1 p.m.
- Last season, the Bears earned a 65-16 win over Carthage at home, improving the all-time record in favor of WashU to 6-0.
- The Bears are currently in a tie for second place in the CCIW standing at 2-1 in conference and 3-1 overall.
- The Firebirds are in a tie for sixth place with a 1-2 mark in the CCIW and 2-2 overall.
