Men's Track and Field Has Strong Showing at Hilltop Classic

Jacksonville, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field had a strong showing at the Hilltop Classic hosted by Illinois College, winning four events.
 
Track
Junior Alex Djetto won the 400m, racing a time of 50.69 while first-year Carson Page took third in 51.51.
 
The Bears took the top three spots in the 800m, led by senior Jeff Candell who won in 1:55.79. Junior Drew Sidamon-Eristoff finished second in 1:55.90 and first-year James Corbett took third in 1:56.44.
 
The Bears team of senior Jackson Cox, Sidamon-Eristof, senior Jack Henry Whetstone and senior Arthur Santoro won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:24.03. Corbett, junior Frankie Lynch, first-year Brandon Brazil and senior Mason Wong finished third in 3:36.26.
 
The team of Candell, Cox, Santoro and junior Will Houser won the distance medley relay, racing to a time of 9:57.67 which ranks fifth all-time in program history and 10th nationally. The team of Lynch, Whetstone, sophomore Charlie Fallon and first-year Alec Means finished second in 10:40.62.
 
Junior Micah Benson finished second in the 3,000m with a time of 8:50.45 while junior Jack Maranz took third in 8:53.55. First-year Max Latshaw finished fourth in 8:57.00 and sophomore Griffin Walsh finished fifth with a time of 9:10.58.
 
Senior Matt Moore finished seventh in the 55m, racing to a time of 6.58 which is tied for ninth all-time in program history.
 
First-year Samuel Pan took eighth in the 200m, running a 23.27.
 
Sophomore Fernando Ribeiro Duraes took sixth in the mile with a time of 4:16.57.
 
Field
First-year Jalen Dural finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.92m while senior Michael Snyder took third with a mark of 1.92m.
 
Junior Tommaso Maiocco and first-year Hayden Kunkel tied for third, clearing 4.45m while senior Sam Winiarski took fifth with a mark of 4.30m.
 
Junior Solomon Kang took third in the long jump with a mark of 6.45m while Matt Moore took fifth with a mark of 6.36m.
 
Senior Nolen Bowerman finished fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.16m and 10th in the shot put with a mark of 12.04.
 
The Bears head to the UAA Championships on Saturday-Sunday, February 25-26.
