Box Score St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 13, 2016 – The No. 3-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team put together its best offensive output of the season in an 8-0 win over Greenville College Tuesday night at Francis Field in St. Louis
WashU improved to 5-0 with the win, while Greenville fell to 2-3.
Freshman Taylor Cohen scored a pair of second-half goals, while junior Elise Brown and freshman Sam Elster added the first goals of their career in the win for the Bears.
WashU outshot Greenville 47-1 and the Bears had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bears scored three goals in a span of six minutes to build a 3-0 advantage. Sophomore Caroline Dempsey scored for the third-straight game in the 12th minute with a left-footed shot inside the box.
Sophomore Darcy Cunningham scored on a breakaway at 15:12 to make it 2-0, and then Brown headed home a corner kick from senior Hannah Rosenberg to extend the lead to 3-0. The Bears outshot Greenville 21-0 in the first half.
Junior Mariana Alisio and Cohen added breakaway goals early in the second half to make it 5-0. Freshman Jesse Rubin, Cohen and Elster also found the back of the net in the second half to round out the scoring.
Senior Lizzy Crist (5-0) picked up the win in goal and did not face a shot in 25:54. Freshman Katy Hutson played the final 64:06 and faced one shot.
WashU competes in the Titan Soccer Classic Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 17-18, at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. The Bears take on University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Saturday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a contest with Illinois Wesleyan or No. 17 DePauw University Sunday at 3 or 5:30 p.m.
