No. 1 WashU Women's Soccer Picks Up Shutout Win at Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated Rose-Hulman (RHIT) 2-0 on the road on Thursday evening, handing the Fightin' Engineers their first loss of the season. With the win, the Bears improve to 4-0 on the year.
 
WashU broke through in the 39th minute as senior Madi Foley scored her third goal of the season on a pass from sophomore Grace Lynch for a 1-0 lead.
 
Junior Emily Fox also netted her third goal of the year in the 77th minute, off a sequence from Foley and first-year Grace Harper.
 
The Bears set the pace, registering 22 shots with 13 on goal, while holding RHIT to five total shots with two on goal.
 
Fox led the Bears with six shots including five on frame with a goal. Senior Sophie Viscovich recorded five shots with four on goal while junior Kate Martin had three shots with two on goal.
 
Junior Suzie Green earned her first start of the year in goal for WashU, making two saves, one in the 21st minute and one in the 61st. Green and senior Charlotte Shapiro combined for another clean sheet.
 
The Bears are back at home on Sunday against Elmhurst at 1 p.m. Prior to kickoff, WashU will honors its 10 seniors – Jadyn Aling, Regan Cannon, Madi Foley, Allie Goulding, Alexandra Karolak, Julia Moore, Anna Rosato, Charlotte Shapiro, Sophie Viscovich and Alexandra Weinmeister.
