Morales-Martinez, Moore Each Earn Brace in Win At Simpson

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated Simpson 7-0 on the road on Sunday afternoon, improving to 3-0 on the season.
 
The Bears scored 20:11 in as junior Emily Fox netted her second goal of the season. Both goals she's scored this year have been game winners.
 
Sophomore Monica Morales-Martinez made it a 2-0 game in the 34th minute, scoring on a pass from first-year Grace Harper.
 
WashU came out to score five goals in the second half, starting with another goal from Morales-Martinez in the 49th minute, scoring on a pass from Sophie Viscovich.
 
Just over two minutes later, in the 52nd minute, sophomore Olivia Clemons scored on a pass from sophomore Maya Stevenson, extending the Bears' lead to 4-0.
 
Senior Julia Moore scored the next two goals for the Bears, first in the 66th minute on a pass from sophomore Lauren Simon. Following a foul in the box, Moore put in a penalty kick in the 68th minute.
 
Senior Jadyn Aling netted the final goal in the 73rd minute.
 
As a team, WashU registered 47 shots with 21 on goal and held Simpson to just two shots.
 
Fox recorded seven shots with four on frame and one goal while Morales-Martinez had three shots with two on goal, both resulting in goals. Moore had four shots with three on goal and two goals.
 
Aling also had seven total shots with five on frame and one goal while Clemons had five shots with two on goal and one goal.
 
Senior Charlotte Shapiro and junior Suzie Green earned a combined shutout. Shapiro made two saves in the first half.
 
The Bears are back on the road on Thursday, September 10 for a 7 p.m. ET match at Rose-Hulman. On Sunday, September 13, WashU returns to Francis Olympic Field for a 1 p.m. game against Elmhurst, which will be senior day.
