ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A new season brings a new outlook for the No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team and head coach
Jeff Stiles, now in his 25th season, as the Bears look to improve on their 10th place finish at NCAA Championships a year ago.
WashU opens its season this weekend when it hosts the Gabby Reuveni Invitational. The meet will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the SIUE Cross Country Course in Edwardsville, Ill. The 5K race starts at 8:30 a.m.
After a week break from meets, the Bears travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Jim McNichols meet on Saturday, Sept. 20. The race gets underway at 9:45 a.m. ET. Just six days later WashU will take part in the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by Mizzou in Columbia, Mo. on Friday, Sept. 26. The race starts off at 11:15 a.m.
The final regular season meet for the Bears is on Saturday, Oct. 18 when WashU visits Rock Island, Ill. for the Augie Interregional. The women kick things off at 12 p.m.
This season the Bears will host the 2025 UAA Championships at the SIUE course on Saturday, Nov. 1. The women's race will have its start at 12 p.m.
WashU looks to compete on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Midwest Regional hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa. The meet sees the women starting at 12 p.m.
The 2025 NCAA Div. III National Championships take place on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Roger Milliken Center Course in Spartanburg, S.C. As their previous three meets, the race gets underway at 12 p.m. ET.
WashU will look to several key runners from a year ago, including sophomore
Lucinda Laughlin, who finished second for the Bears at the national championships with a time of 22:11.2. Seniors
Jillian Heth and
Katie Rector, as well as sophomore
Lauren Raley, all ran in Terre Haute for the Bears at nationals.
Laughlin, Rector, and Heth were all named All-Region for WashU.
The Bears also return seniors
