EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team opened their 2025 season in style with a win at the Gabby Reuveni Invite hosted on the SIUE Cross Country Course on Saturday morning. The meet was a 5K.
WashU claimed the team victory in a field of five teams, including 63 individual runners. The Bears finished with just 23 points to seal the win.
Div. II Maryville (Mo.) had the top individual finisher while finishing second in the team standings with 38 points. Greenville took home third place with 92 points, while Jefferson College (123 points) and Div. II McKendree (125 points) rounded out the top five.
Sophomore
Lucinda Laughlin was the first Bear to cross the finish line with a time of 18:29.3. Classmate
Lauren Raley finished third overall, just 0.4 seconds behind Laughlin with a time of 18:29.7. Senior
Jillian Heth was fifth with a time of 18:39.5 to round out the top five finishers.
The Bears then went on to claim the next six finishing spots to secure nine of the top 11 places. Senior

Vivienne Larson (18:47.3), junior
Amelie Maltz (18:50.0), sophomore
Maddy Lee (18:50.1), and sophomore
Sally Carrington (18:58.6) completed the top 10.
WashU will be running their first 8K of the season at the Jim McNichols Invite at Indiana State on Saturday, Sept. 20. The women's race is scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m. ET.
