ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Looking to take the next step this season, the No. 14 Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team will take to the field for the first time this week under the direction of third-year head coach
Andrew Bordelon.
The Bears finished last year with a 14-4-1 overall record, including a 5-2 record in the UAA, claiming the UAA title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. WashU advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2007.
Schedule
The season gets underway on Tuesday, Sept. 1 when Millikin pays a visit to Francis Olympic Field at 4 p.m. It will also serve as the International Student Appreciation Game.
WashU hits the road for the first time on opening weekend for a pair of contests, beginning with a visit to North Park on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. before wrapping up with a game at Elmhurst on Monday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.
The Bears return home for their following three contests over the next two weekends. Hanover will come to St. Louis on Friday, Sept. 11 for a 3 p.m. game. Rhodes will travel from Memphis to the Danforth Campus on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.
The team will have nearly a week of training before hosting DePauw on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. Prior to kickoff, the Bears will honor their 11 seniors,

The next week will see WashU make a quick trip to Principia on Tuesday, Sept. 22 for a 7:30 p.m. contest. That weekend, Centre will come to campus for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The Bears will be on the road for the next two weeks, beginning with a contest at Greenville on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. WashU then kicks off the UAA portion of their schedule when they pay a visit to No. 18 Brandeis on Saturday, Oct. 3 for a 12 p.m. ET game.
The final non-conference contest of the season will be on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when the team makes a quick trip across the city to take on Webster at 6 p.m. at the WWT Soccer Park.
WashU returns to UAA action on Saturday, Oct. 10 as they host Case Western Reserve at 10 a.m. The game will be The Hidden Opponent (THO) as well as the Love Wins Game. A week later, the team will visit Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, Oct. 17 with an 11 a.m. ET start.
The final two home games of the regular season will take place on Friday, Oct. 23 against Rochester and Sunday, Oct. 25 against No. 4 Emory. The contest against the Yellow Jackets will be the Hispanic Heritage Month and Youth & Campers Game with a 5 p.m. start. The game against the Eagles will kick off at 11 a.m.
The final two games will be on the road over the following two weekends. A visit to New York University on Saturday, Oct. 31 will begin the road trip before the end of season visit to No. 20 Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 7 for an 11 a.m. start.
WashU returns all seven student-athletes who earned All-UAA honors, including Gomez who was the UAA Defensive Player of the Year, as well as Wirtschafter, L'Hommedieu. Sophomore
Daniel Kochen, who was named the UAA Rookie of the Year, is back along with sophomore
Sebastian Valdes, sophomore
Jack Hayeems, and junior
Quentin Wallace.
Gomez, Wirtschafter, L'Hommedieu, and Valdes went on to earn All-Region honors with Gomez and Wirtschafter being honored as United Soccer Coaches Div. III All-Americans.
The Bears return every student-athlete who scored a goal last season as well as 89% of assists.
