Bear Beats: Episode 36; For Competition Through May 10

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The 36th episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's tennis, softball, and baseball.

No. 3 Women & No. 14 Men Outdoor Track & Field
  • WashU has one more opportunity to secure qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships this Wednesday and Thursday, May 13-14 at the Augustana Last Chance meet.

No. 7 Softball
  • After winning the UAA and receiving an automatic bid, WashU will host a four-team regional this weekend, May 14-16 at the WashU Softball Field.
  • The Bears welcome in Capital, Wis.-Oshkosh, and Illinois College the double-elimination bracket.
  • WashU will take on Capital in the first game on Thursday, May 14 at 12 p.m.
  • In the other first round game, UWO will face off against Illinois College at 2:30 p.m.
  • Three games will be played on Friday while the championship game, and "if necessary" game, will take place on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.

No. 15/17 Baseball
  • WashU has been given an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will travel to Danville, Ky. to play in the Centre Regional on May 15-17.
  • WashU, the top seed in the regional, will take on Aurora in the first game on Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. ET.
  • In the other first round game, host Centre will face (RV) Piedmont on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
  • The double elimination bracket will continue with three games on Saturday and the championship, and "if necessary game" on Sunday, May 17 starting at 11 a.m. ET.
