RV Men's Cross Country Wins Gabby Reuveni Invite In Home Opener

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The RV Washington University in St. Louis men's cross country team took to the course for the first time this fall and came away with a dominating win at the Gabby Reuveni Invite on Saturday morning. The field featured two NCAA Div. II teams, two Div. III teams, a NJCAA team, as well as a group of WashU alumni.

WashU took the title by claiming the fewest points possible at a meet with 15. Not only did the Bears finish with the top five spots, but they also claimed the top 12 spots at the meet. Eighty runners took to the 5K course at SIUE.

The WashU alumni group came in second, with Maryville (Mo.) taking the third spot with 86 points. McKendree took fourth with 129 points, while Greenville rounded out the top five with 130 points. Principia (137 points) and Jefferson College (177 points) rounded out the field.

Senior Conor Daly took home top individual honors with a time of 15:27.1. Sophomore Sean Green was right behind him with a time of 15:28.6. First-year Charlie Houck finished third in his first collegiate meet with a time of 15:32.7. Senior Oliver Witt was fourth with a time of 15:34.5, while sophomore Ilan Sherman-Kadish was fifth with a time of 15:37.3.

First-year Gavin O'Connor (15:39.3), first-year Rishi Shadaksharappa (15:41.6), senior Max Latshaw (15:47.2), first-year Mateo Gros-Slovinsky (15:49.1), and senior James Corbett (15:50.3) rounded out the top 10.

WashU will be back running their first 8K of the season at the Jim McNichols Invite at Indiana State on Saturday, Sept. 20. The men's race is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. ET.
