EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The No. 17 Washington University in St. Louis men's cross country team opened its 2026 season by hosting the annual Gabby Reuveni Invite. The meet took place at the SIUE 5K Cross Country Course.
The Bears finished first among the seven teams competing, finishing with just 25 points. WashU outdistanced themselves from the runner-up group of Bears' alumni to ran, who finished with 64 points.
Div. II Maryville (Mo.) (78 points) was the second collegiate team to finish in third place. Fellow Div. II McKendree finished fourth with 103 points. Webster rounded out the top five with 127 points.
Principia (146 points) and Jefferson College (169 points) completed the field.

Sean Green was the first WashU runner to complete the 5K course in a time of 16:40.2 in fourth place. He began a string of nine-straight Bears to cross the finish line. Junior

Charlie Houck (16:40.6) rounded out the set of nine Bears to cross the finish line in less than half a second from one another.
WashU will have two weeks to prepare for its next meet on Saturday, Sept. 19 when it travels to Terre Haute, Ind. for the annual Jim McNichols Invite hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson XC Course.
