WAVERLY, Iowa – On an unusually warm Saturday in November, the No. 18 Washington University in St. Louis men's cross country team finished in fifth place at the 2025 NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Wartburg.
No. 2 Wartburg claimed the team title with 30 points. No. 9 Chicago, which won the UAA title on Nov. 1, was the region runner-up with 87 points. No. 10 North Central was close behind in third place with 93 points. No. 29 Loras finished fourth with 128 points, narrowly beating the Bears to round out the top five.
Senior
Conor Daly was the top WashU finisher, placing 19th with a season-best time of 24:56.5 for the 8K course. First-year
Max Sudrzynski finished less than a second behind him in 21st place with a time of 24:57.4.
Sophomore
Sean Green came in next for the Bears, finishing 25th with a time of 25:11.3. Rounding out the point scorers for WashU were sophomore
Ben Lorenz in 33rd place (25:28.9) and first-year
Rishi Shadaksharappa in 39th place (25:43.2).
In one week, the Bears will compete at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 in Spartanburg, S.C. The race, held at the Roger Milliken Center, will begin at 11 a.m. ET.
