WashU Football to Face UW-Stout in 5th-Annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – The Washington University in St. Louis football team will play in the 5th Annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 22 against UW-Stout at 2 p.m. This will be the third time in program history that the Bears have played in this bowl game, including the inaugural game in 2021.
 
The Isthmus Bowl features the highest seed in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) that did not receive a berth to the NCAA Tournament. WashU finished third in the CCIW while UW-Stout finished fifth.
 
The game will be played at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field which is a multi-purpose stadium that serves the local community in Sun Prairie which features 4,000 seats and a multi-purpose synthetic turf field.
 
About the Bears – Roster | Schedule | Stats
The Bears posted an 8-2 record with a 7-2 conference record in their last year in as a member of the CCIW. It is the second-straight eight-win season and the third under Coach Aaron Keen's five seasons.
 
On Tuesday, 11 Bears were received all-conference honors, headlined by first-year Jason Doyle who was named the CCIW First-Year Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year. Juniors Makael Carter and Brady Cavan were both named All-CCIW First Team while junior Joy Chane earned a spot on the All-CCIW First Team Defense and sophomore Matias Adrogue was named All-CCIW First Team Specialists.
 
Juniors Levi Moore and Luke Gadomski were named All-CCIW Second Team Offense while seniors Gyvnn Mendenhall, Brady Willmer and Ryan Schmadtke were named All-CCIW Second Team Defense. Senior Fred Ware earned the CCIW RESPECT Award.
 
As a team, the Bears have 3,681 yards of total offense, averaging 368.1 yards per game. They have recorded 1,676 yards passing and 2,005 yards rushing. WashU has two shutouts this year, the season-opener against Rhodes (49-0) and against Elmhurst (17-0).
 
Moore, the starting quarterback, is 127-215-6 on the year with 1,542 yards and 18 passing touchdowns for an average of 154.20 yards per game. He also leads the rushing game for WashU with 620 yards on 102 carries with 17 touchdowns.
 
Ware has 573 yards on 113 carries with five touchdowns while junior Matthew Kinoshita has 567 yards on 101 carries with one touchdown.
 
Carter leads the rushing game for WashU with 581 yards on 39 catches with eight touchdowns. Junior Drew Bomar has 360 yards on 28 receptions with five touchdowns.
 
Defensively, Chane leads the Bears with 62.0 tackles (36 solo, 26 assists), 3.0 tackles-for-loss, one sack, three interceptions, three pass breakups and one forced fumble. Schmadtke has 45.0 tackles (21 solo, 24 assists), 0.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and three pass breakups. Willmer has 44.0 tackles (23 solo, 21 assists) with a team-best 10.0 tackles-for-loss, two sacks, one interception, two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries.
 
Adrogue has 30 punts for a total of 1,208 yards, averaging 40.27 per punt. He has 12 inside the 20 and 11 fair catches. He is also 4-5 for field goals, with his longest at 43 yards. Carter is the top punt and kickoff return. He has eight punt returns for 42 yards and 12 kickoff returns for 334 yards and one touchdown.

The Blue Devils are 5-5 on the year and went 3-4 in the WIAC, with three-straight losses to end the regular-season, all to Top 15 teams.
 
Yesterday, the All-WIAC teams were announced and 12 Blue Devils were honored. TJ Scott and Davonte Evans were named to the first team for offense while Blaine Seidl and Brooks Brewer earned a spot on the first team for defense. Ben Bystol and Adam Moen were named to the second team for offense, Walker Beyerl was named to the second team for defense and Jojo James and Avron Carter picked up a spot on the second team for special teams. Gabe Kramer and Jessie Ellis were both selected as honorable mentions for defense and Abe Helsell was named to the all-sportsmanship team.
 
As a team, UW-Stout has totaled 3,394 yards of offense with 2,266 passing and 1,128 rushing. The Blue Devils are averaging 328.3 yards per game and 23.70 points per game.
 
Moen is 184-320-13 on the year with 2,206 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also leads the rushing game with 473 yards on 153 carries for 14 touchdowns. Chandler Ross has 316 yards on 61 carries with six touchdowns and Chase Hughes has 168 yards on 41 carries with one touchdown. Evans leads the receivers with 810 yards on 54 catches with seven touchdowns. Carter has 578 yards on 50 receptions with three touchdowns.
 
Defensively, Seidl has 93.0 tackles (49 solo, 44 assists) with 12.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, one force fumble and one fumble recovery. Brewer has 68.0 tackles (35 solo, 33 assists) with 1.0 tackles-for-loss, three interceptions, four pass breakups and one forced fumble. Dawson Goodman has 53 tackles (30 solo, 23 assists) with 2.0 tackles-for-loss, three interceptions and five pass breakups. Jesse Elli has 43.0 tackles (26 solo, 17 assists) with 1.0 tackles-for-loss, one interception and a team-high nine pass breakups.
 
Brady Prieve is the lead punter, totaling 31 for 1,185 yards for an average of 38.23. Carter is the top punt returner with 15 for 177 yards for an average of 11.80. James is the top kickoff returner with 15 for 451 yards and one touchdown.
