NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its postseason awards on Tuesday morning, and 11 Bears were honored.
Headlining for WashU is first-year
Jason Doyle, who was named the CCIW First-Year Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year. Doyle, a left tackle, has been a mainstay on the Bears' offensive line all season, playing as part of the offense that has scored a total of 333 points and 44 touchdowns.
Junior wide receiver
Makael Carter and junior offensive lineman
Brady Cavan were both named to the All-CCIW First Team Offense, marking their first-career CCIW honors.
Carter has been the top receiving option for the Bears all season, racking up 581 yards on 39 catches and scoring eight touchdowns. He is averaging 14.90 yards per reception and 58.10 yards per game. In the first CCIW game this year, Carter returned a kickoff for a 98-yard touchdown, setting a new program record for a kickoff return for a touchdown, previously set in 2023. His eight touchdowns rank third among CCIW players, while his 39 receptions and 58.1 yards per game both rank sixth.
Cavan, a left guard, moved into a starting role on the O-Line this season, playing a crucial role in the Bears' 333 points and 44 touchdowns. He has seen action in all 10 games.
Junior
Joy Chane earned his second All-CCIW honor, picking up All-CCIW First Team Defense honors after being named to the second team a season ago. He leads the Bears in solo tackles (36), total tackles (62.0), and interceptions (3). Chane has made 3.0 tackles for loss, recorded one sack, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble. His three interceptions rank third among CCIW players.
Sophomore punter
Matias Adrogue was named to the All-CCIW First Team Specialists, marking his first-career honor. He has recorded 30 punts this season for a total of 1,208 yards, averaging 40.27 yards per punt, including a 64-yarder. Adrogue has put 12 punts inside the 20, and there have been 11 fair catches.
Junior quarterback
Levi Moore and senior offensive lineman
Luke Gadomski were both named to the All-CCIW Second Team Offense.
Moore is 127-215-6 (59.07%) on the year, throwing for 1,542 yards and 18 touchdowns, with an average of 154.20 yards per game. He is also the top rusher for the Bears, tallying 620 yards on 102 carries. He leads WashU with 17 rushing touchdowns and is averaging 62.00 rushing yards per game. Moore ranks second in scoring (104 points), second in scoring touchdowns (17), sixth in passing yards (1,542), and fifth in rushing yards (620) among CCIW players.
Gadomski has played in all 10 games at center, a key piece in the Bears' 33.3 points per game average this season.
Senior
Gyvnn Mendenhall, senior
Brady Willmer, and senior
Ryan Schmadtke all earned their first-career all-conference honor, picking up spots on the All-CCIW Second Team Defense.
Mendenhall, part of the defensive line, has 11.0 tackles to his credit with one tackle for loss. Willmer, an outside linebacker, ranks fourth among the Bears with 44.0 tackles, including a team-high 10.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. Willmer also has one interception, two pass breakups, and two quarterback hurries. He was named the CCIW Defensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 13. Schmadtke, a safety, is second on the team with 45.0 tackles. He has two interceptions, three pass breakups, and 0.5 tackles for loss.
Senior
Fred Ware was named the CCIW RESPECT Award winner. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as integral members of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourage inclusiveness and a positive culture.
The Bears travel to Wisconsin this weekend to play in the 5th Annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl.
