No. 1 Women’s Track and Field Earns 11 Event Wins at IC’s True Blue Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team made the trip to Jacksonville, Ill. to compete in Illinois College's True Blue Open, Saturday, April 6. The Bears racked up 11 event victories on the day.

No team scores were recorded.

Saturday's Top Finishers:

100 Meters:

Jasmine Wright secured the victory as she posted a time of 12.07
Nicole Stewart took runner-up with a mark of 12.12
Lauren Gay (12.58) brought home fourth

200 Meters:

Kylie Spytek earned the 200-meter win with her time of 25.92
Danielle Schultz (26.48) took sixth, Julia Coric (26.58) grabbed seventh, while Gayle Henderson (26.63) recorded eighth

400 Meters:

Danielle Schultz came out victorious in the 400-meter event as she turned in a time of 57.90
Cate Christopher notched a runner-up finish with a mark of 58.47
Kathryn Leighty (1:02.06) garnered sixth

800 Meters:

WashU took the first six spots in the 800-meter race
Sophie Bekins won with a time of 2:20.03
Lily Dipple (2:21.12) grabbed second, Morgan Fowler (2:21.94) produced third, while Tatum Goforth (2:22.01) hauled in fourth
Virginia Pridgen (2:22.48) earned fifth and Keira Rall (2:22.75) spun sixth

1,500 Meters:

Emma Kelley welcomed the 1,500-meter win as she crossed the finish line with a mark of 4:22.76, 13 seconds clear of the rest of the field
Ally Sarussi secured runner-up with a mark of 4:35.36

100-Meter Hurdles

Lauren Gay recorded second with a time of 14.23
Holland Kantar earned fourth as she posted a time of 16.65

400-Meter Hurdles:

Ruby Kaplan enjoyed the 400-meter win with a mark of 1:05.69
Holland Kantar secured runner-up as she posted a time of 1:10.36

4 x 100 Relay:

WashU's relay team of Maya Davis, Jasmine Wright, Lauren Gay, and Nicole Stewart won the relay with a mark of 48.10
WashU's team of Julia Coric, Gayle Henderson, Gemma Pleas, Cecille Figueroa recorded third with a time of 50.01

4 x 400 Relay:

WashU's team of Emma Kelley, Cate Christopher, Kylie Spytek, and Danielle Schultz won with a time of 3:51.50
WashU's team of Julia Coric, Izzy Gorton, Caroline Echols, and Gayle Henderson took second with a mark of 3:59.00
WashU's team of Elizabeth Wagner, Kathryn Leighty, Ruby Kaplan, and Ally Sarussi notched third with a time of 4:02.91

High Jump:

Olivia Theisen and Maddie Moenickheim tied for fourth with a mark of 1.50m

Pole Vault:

Yasmin Ruff claimed the pole vault victory with her clearance of the 3.84m bar
Mackenzie Walker took second with a mark of 3.44m

Long Jump:

Ebun Opata bested the long jump field with her mark of 5.47m
Maya Davis turned in a mark of 5.16m, good for fifth

Triple Jump:

Ebun Opata won her second event of the day with a mark of 11.93m in the triple jump

Shot Put:

Mikayla Wise posted fifth with a heave of 11.94m
Taylor Simpson spun ninth with her mark of 11.31m

Javelin Throw:

Maddie Moenickheim took 11th as she posted distance of 26.73m
Sofia Rosenzweig grabbed 13th with a mark of 25.65m

Hammer Throw:

Mikayla Wise took seventh with a throw of 42.87m
