Ruff Records Pole Vault Runner-Up; Six From No. 2 Women’s Track and Field Advance to Tomorrow’s Final at Day One of NCAA Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Junior Yasmin Ruff of the the No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team secured All-American status in the pole vault with her runner-up finish to highlight WashU's day one of the NCAA Indoor Championships, Friday, March 8. As a team, with six events in the books, the Bears sit in a tie for sixth with 11 points.

Pole Vault (Final):

ALL-AMERICAN
With her NCAA Division III National Indoor runner-up finish, Yasmin Ruff secured All-American status
Ruff cleared the 3.87m bar to take home second-place in the event

60 Meters (Prelims):

Two Bears will be in tomorrow's 60-meter dash final
Jasmine Wright produced the fourth-fastest time in the qualifying rounds with a time of 7.556*
Wright welcomed a personal-best time in the process
Maya Davis spun the sixth-fastest qualifying time of 7.57 to notch a lane in the final race*
Davis also spun a personal-best mark in the preliminary round

800 Meters (Prelims):

Emma Kelley, after the preliminary heats, recorded the second-best time en route to securing a lane in tomorrow's 800-meter final*
Kelley won her heat with a time of 2:09.89
Ally Sarussi grabbed the last lane in tomorrow's final race
Sarussi also won her heat as she passed two runners in the home stretch with a mark of 2:11.28*
Danielle Schultz garnered a time of 2:14.99 to earn 18th in the event

200 Meters (Prelims):

Using a personal-best time, Nicole Stewart snuck in tomorrow's 200-meter final as she secured the last available lane with a mark of 24.701*
Stewart's time proved to be a personal-best

400 Meters (Prelims):

Kylie Spytek just missed out on the 400-meter final
After the qualifying heats, Spytek finished ninth as she turned in a personal-best time of 56.77 for the Bears

Distance Medley Relay – DMR (Final):

The team of Katie Rector, Danielle Schultz, Emma Kelley, and Alexandra Blake notched a sixth-place finish in the DMR with a time of 11:38.89
Kelley, who ran the third leg, took the baton in eight place and finished her 800-meter leg with the Bears in first place

Mile (Prelims):

Helena Teixeira-DaSilva recorded 12th in the mile with her mark of 5:01.42
Teixeira-DaSilva registered a personal-best time
Jillian Heth notched a 19th-place finish in the mile
Heth crossed the finish line with a time of 5:07.26

60 Meter Hurdles (Prelims):

Lauren Gay racked up a mark of 8.929 in the 60-meter hurdles prelims
Gay's time earned her a 15th-place finish in the event
Gay produced a fourth-place finish in her heat

4 x 400 Relay (Prelims):

Team of Kylie Spytek, Cate Christopher, Julia Coric, and Nicole Stewart advanced to tomorrow's 4 x 400 relay final with a fifth-place qualifying time of 3:50.71*
Colby, who turned in the fastest preliminary mark, earned a time of 3:49.47
