ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team opened its 2024 outdoor slate by hosting the WashU Triangular, Saturday, March 23. WashU won the meet with 229 points, including nine event victories.
The Bears competed alongside Greenville University, Illinois College, Fontbonne University, and Culver-Stockton College.
Saturday's Top Finishers:
100 Meters:
- Senior Gemma Pleas secured fifth in the event with a mark of 12.98
200 Meters:
- Sophomore Cecille Figueroa notched third as she posted a time of 26.69
- Pleas took eighth in the event (27.38)
400 Meters:
- Sophomore Elizabeth Wagner won the 400-meter race as she crossed the finish line with a mark of 59.82, the only runner to earn a time under 1:00.00
- Senior Kathryn Leighty garnered third (1:01.93)
800 Meters:
1,500 Meters:
- WashU secured the top six times in the 1,500-meter run
- Sophomore Macy Iyer won the event as she crossed the finish line with a time of 4:51.49
- Loftus (4:52.41) grabbed second, first year Isabel Erdmann (4:55.06) hauled in third, while first year Avery Nason (4:57.19) notched fourth
- Cerny (5:00.17) secured fifth while first year Vivienne Larson (5:04.73) finished sixth
100-Meter Hurdles
- First year Holland Kantar hauled in a runner-up finish with a time of 16.01
400-Meter Hurdles:
- Junior Ruby Kaplan secured second (1:05.05) in the event
- Kantar recorded third with a time of 1:10.96

- Sophomore Jenae Bothe won the event as she posted a mark of 39.78m
- Mack (37.25m) hauled in fourth
