NEW YORK, N.Y. - Day one of the University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships saw a pair of titles for the No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team. WashU's distance medley relay (DMR) team and
Yasmin Ruff (pole vault) were each crowned UAA champions at the Nike Track & Field Center in New York, N.Y. After day one, WashU sits in second with 42 points.

5,000 Meters (Final):
- In the 5,000-meter final, Julia Patterson finished sixth in the UAA as she clocked in a time of 17:35.53
Weight Throw (Final):
- The Bears had three in the top-eight of the weight throw final
- Jenae Bothe finished in third-place with a mark of 14.94m
- Mikayla Wise (14.57m) and Taylor Simpson (14.46m) took seventh and eighth, respectively
Long Jump (Final):
60 Meter Hurdles (Trials):
- Lauren Gay advanced to the 60-meter hurdles final tomorrow with her preliminary time of 8.86
- Gay holds the top-mark heading into tomorrow's finals
400 Meters (Trials):
- Three Bears grabbed a lane in tomorrow's 400-meter final
- Kylie Spytek posted the best time with her mark of 57.54
- Christopher (58.27) took third in the prelims, while Julia Coric (59.45) secured fifth
60 Meter (Trials):
- Once again, three Bears will be competing in tomorrow's 60-meter final
- Maya Davis earned the top-seed with her time of 7.68
- Jasmine Wright was right behind Davis, scoring a time of 7.69, good for second
- Nicole Stewart turned in a time of 7.84, good for fifth
800 Meters (Trials):
- The 800-meter final will see three Bears
- Kelley blew by the field with her winning prelim time of 2:11.98
- Kelley bested the field by nearly four seconds
- Ally Sarussi placed third (2:12.98), while Danielle Schultz took the fourth seed with her time of 2:16.48
200 Meters (Trials):
- WashU owns the three best 200-meter prelim times
- Stewart secured the top-time (25.00) to pace the Bears
- Spytek (25.31) and Gay (25.34) finished second and third, respectively
Team scores (after day one):

- Carnegie Mellon – 17.5 points
The Bears will conclude the UAA Indoor Championships, tomorrow, Sunday, February 25. Three field events, women's shot put, men's triple jump, and women's high jump will kick off the day as all three are slated to begin at 10 a.m. ET.
