No. 1 Women’s Track and Field Posts 11 Event Wins; Tops Field of Seven at RHIT

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Continuing its indoor slate, the No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team made the trip to Terre Haute, Ind. to compete in Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Friday Spikes Series #3, Friday, January 26. Out of 16 scored events, WashU won 11. The Bears won the meet with 261 points.

The Bears competed alongside RHIT, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Belhaven University, Hanover College, Franklin College, and Earlham College.

Friday's Top Finishers:

60 Meters:

The Bears saw five sprinters in the 60-meter dash final
Jasmine Wright won the event with a time of 7.67
Maya Davis secured third with a mark of 7.79
Nicole Stewart hauled in fourth (7.89)
Ebun Opata (8.10) and Lauren Gay (8.14) took sixth and seventh, respectively

200 Meters:

WashU secured four of the top six times in the 200-meter race
Nicole Stewart claimed the event victory with a time of 25.80
Jasmine Wright grabbed third (26.24), while Lauren Gay collected fifth (26.62)
Maya Davis posted a time of 26.64, to earn sixth

400 Meters:

The Bears went one, two, and three in the 400-meter
Adding another win to her resume, Emma Kelley bested the 400-meter field as she crossed the finish line with a mark of 57.12
Kylie Spytek took runner-up with a time of 58.70
Cate Christopher secured third (59.24)

800 Meters:

WashU earned the top 14 marks in the 800-meter race
Ally Sarussi won the event with a time of 2:15.50
Caroline Echols (2:16.02), Danielle Schultz (2:17.79), and Virginia Pridgen (2:19.66) placed second-fourth, respectively
Sophie Bekins (2:19.81), Izzy Gorton (2:20.35), and Morgan Fowler (2:21.00) secured fifth-seventh, respectively

Mile:

In the mile run, the Bears earned five of the six top marks
Isabel Erdmann placed second with a time of 5:31.47
Keira Rall (5:31.65) notched third, while Avery Nason (5:33.76) took fourth
Ella Cerny (5:34.01) claimed fifth in the event, while Kristina Dalton (5:52.84) grabbed sixth

3,000 Meters:

Much like the 800, WashU welcomed the top 10 times in the 3,000-meter run
Jillian Heth won the event with a time of 10:13.21
Helena Teixeira-DaSilva notched a runner-up finish with a time of 10:20.99
Julia Patterson (10:21.20) grabbed third, while Katie Rector (10:25.73) secured fourth
Alexandra Blake registered a fifth-place finish with a time of 10:26.30)
Macy Iyer (10:30.30) registered sixth, while Kristin Loftus (10:38.17) earned seventh

5,000 Meters:

Avery McCammon, the lone WashU participant, won the 5,000-meter race with a mark of 18:17.58

60 Meter Hurdles:

The Bears had a pair of athletes in the 60-meter hurdle final
Charis Riebe claimed runner-up with a time of 10.00
Holland Kantar registered a mark of 10.73, good for sixth

4 x 400 Relay:

WashU garnered the top four relay times
The team of Kylie Spytek, Cate Christopher, Gayle Henderson, and Emma Kelley won the event with a mark of 3:54.92
The team of Caroline Echols, Izzy Gorton, Danielle Schultz, and Ally Sarussi hauled in second with a time of 4:03.64

Pole Vault:

Yasmin Ruff won the pole vault event with a mark of 3.96m
Meredyth Barr registered third (3.32m), while Anna Curtis secured fourth (3.02m)

Long Jump:

Maya Davis posted a leap of 5.34m to win the long jump event
Ebun Opata took second in the event (5.34m)
Maddie Moenickheim (4.75m) earned fifth

Triple Jump:

Sofia Rosenzweig was the top finisher for the Bears in the triple jump, earning fourth (10.00m)
Danielle Cuthbert (9.77m) notched fifth in the event

Shot Put:

Jenae Bothe dominated the shot put field, securing the event win with a heave of 13.48m
Mikayla Wise (12.33m) and Taylor Simpson (10.98m) grabbed third and fourth, respectively

Weight Throw:

Jenae Bothe welcomed her second event win of the day in the weight throw, earning a mark of 14.37m
Mikayla Wise grabbed runner-up with a throw of 14.05m
Taylor Simpson (12.68m) took sixth
