St. Louis, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team collected a 9-0 sweep against Rhodes College on Saturday at the Tao Tennis Center in non-conference play.
The Bears improve to 4-2 overall with the victory as they secure their second consecutive win this spring.
WashU built an early advantage after great doubles play, setting the tone as they swept all three courts for a 3-0 lead.
Abhi Ramireddy/ Daniel Li were victorious at No. 1 doubles 8-3, while Jeremy Ouyang/ Scott Yamamoto cruised to an 8-2 decision at the No. 2 spot.
Henri Ohl/Sam Komis dominated at No. 3 doubles, earning a decisive 8-1 win.
In singles action, it was all Bears right from the start. WashU did not drop a set and only lost six games combined throughout all six courts.
Ramireddy won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3, while Luke Smith collected a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.
Li, John Fajouri, Lucas Guy, and James Shaheen all won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles, respectively.
The Bears will next get set for their trip out west to California from March 14-19.
