St. Louis, Mo., September 25, 2021—The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team had an impressive day at the WashU 1,2,3 Doubles Invite on Saturday at the Tao Tennis Center.
The Bears won both Flight A and Flight B draws for the day against the Lindenwood University and Saint Louis University doubles teams.
Abhi Ramireddy/Daniel Li were victorious in the Flight A bracket, winning all three matches on the day.
The duo matched up with three different SLU teams in each of the three rounds, winning the first round 8-4, the semis 8-6, and then cruised to a decisive 8-3 win in the final round.
Lucas Guy and John Fakouri won Flight B, as they defeated Lindenwood's doubles teams in the first two rounds by scores of 8-1 and 8-5 respectively.
In an all-WashU final, the pair defeated teammates Luke Smith/James Shaheen 8-4.
Smith & Shaheen advanced to the finals with wins over SLU (8-2) and Lindenwood in the semifinal round 8-0.
For the day, the Bears' doubles teams won 11 matches combined in both draws. Click here to view the full results on the day.
