Rome, Ga., October 14, 2021 – Daniel Li and Abhi Ramireddy of the Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team earned a big victory in the first-round of the Doubles National Small College Championships (ITA Cup) on Thursday against Emory University.
The duo defeated Samuel Dean and Santiago Suarez of EU 6-3, 3-6, 10-3, as they bounced back from a tough second set loss with a great effort, securing the victory with a decisive 10-3 tiebreaker win.
By virtue of winning their first-round match, Li and Ramireddy will collect ITA All-American honors for the year.
Li and Ramireddy reached the ITA Cup initially after advancing to the finals of the ITA Central Regional Championship, which earned them an automatic berth into the tournament.
The pair will advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. EST against Trinity.
The National Small College Championships is held annually at the Rome Tennis Center in Georgia, and features student-athletes from NCAA Division II and III, NAIA, and junior college.
