WashU Swimming Collects B Cut Times at Denison Invite

Granville, Ohio, Dec. 5, 2019 – The Washington University men's and women's swimming programs collected six NCAA Division III B qualifying times at the Denison University Invitational at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.

At the end of the first day of the three day competition, the No. 6-ranked Bears women's squad is in fifth place with 251 points, competing against NCAA Division I program Eastern Michigan, Division II program Wayne State University and Division III rivals Denison and Emory. 

The No. 5-ranked WashU men currently sit in fourth place of four teams with 302 points, going head-to-head against Wayne State, Emory and Denison.

The quartet of junior Elle Pollitt, senior Mollie Seidner, junior Sabrina Baxamusa and sophomore Grace Carey collected the Bears' first NCAA B cut time working together in the 200-yard freestyle relay to post a time of 1:34.05.  

Pollitt also collected a NCAA B cut time in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.19.  

The WashU men's squad picked up four NCAA B cut times. Freshman Mason Kelber took second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:25.89, collecting a B cut time. Sophomore Kevin Hao tallied his own NCAA B cut time in the 200-yard individual medley with a fifth-place time of 1:50.84. 

Bears' quartet of seniors Chase Van Patten and Peyton Wilson, freshman Michael Kincheloe and sophomore Barclay Dale worked together to collect a B cut time in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:21.86. 

Wilson, senior Vincent Huang, Dale and Van Patten also picked up an NCAA B cut time in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:18.53. 

WashU is back in action on Friday, Dec. 6 for the second day of the Denison Invitational with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and finals scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Trumbull Aquatics Center. A portion of the Bears are also competing in Wheaton Invite on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7.
