Men's Soccer Shut Out in Loss at DePauw

Greencastle, Ind., Sept. 7, 2018 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team outshot host DePauw University but could not muster a goal in a 1-0 loss Friday in Greencastle, Ind.

DePauw remained undefeated at 3-0 with the win, while WashU fell to 0-3.

WashU had the 11-4 shot advantage, and each team recorded five corner kicks. Senior Ryan Sproule recorded a game-high five shots, with three on goal.

Carlos Martinez scored the lone goal of the contest in the 43rdminute for DePauw off a double assist from Oliver Shebek and Jack Schrepferman.

Junior goalkeeper Connor Mathes (0-3) made one save and suffered the loss.

WashU plays Wartburg College (1-2) on Friday, Sept, 14, at 7 p.m. in its home opener.

BEAR NOTEBOOK: WashU leads the all-time series with DePauw 11-3-3 … The Bears have lost four-straight games dating back to last season.
