Atlanta, Feb. 15, 2014 - Freshmen Ryan Nathenson and Fernando Rojo both finished in the top-10 of the one-meter diving to open the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming & Diving Championships Wednesday at Emory University.
Nathenson placed ninth overall in the event, missing finals by one spot, with a score of 331.95. Rojo improved his season-best score by more than 78 points to place 10th in the event with a score of 288.90. Austin Blease of New York University broke his own UAA record to win the event with a score of 567.70.
The UAA Championships continue Thursday-Saturday in Atlanta. Thursday's events include the 200-freestyle relay, 500 free, 200 individual medley, 50 free, 400-medley relay and women's three-meter diving. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. (ET), with finals starting at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
