Box Score Rochester, N.Y., Oct. 18, 2014 – Sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Geanon made a career-high eight saves and posted his third career shutout as the Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team posted a 0-0 double overtime draw Sunday afternoon in Rochester, N.Y.
Washington U. falls to 6-5-2, 0-3-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while Rochester drops to 6-4-3, 1-2-1 in UAA play.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening half, with Rochester holding a 6-1 shot edge and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman Andrew Zingone had the only shot of the half for Washington U. in the 13th minute, but it was blocked.
Sophomore Nick Politan had the lone shot on goal for Washington U. in the 82nd minute that was corralled up by Rochester goalkeeper Michael Shatkin.
Rochester outshot Washington U. 20-6, and had a 10-3 advantage or corner kicks. The shutout for the Bears was their fifth this season.
Washington U. opens a four-game home stand with a non-conference game against Principia College on Thursday, Oct. 23. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Francis Field.
