PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The No. 13 Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team dropped a UAA road contest at Carnegie Mellon, 64-61. The Bears are now 10-3 on the year with a 0-2 mark in conference play.
Junior
Connor May led all scorers with 19 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Senior
Yogi Oliff netted 10 points with five rebounds and two assists.
The Bears scored the first points of the game as junior
Ryan Cohen hit a 3-pointer at the 19:10 mark. Carnegie Mellon tied things up at 4-4 before hitting two-straight 3-pointers to take a 10-4 lead at 13:23.
WashU followed with an 11-0 run, starting with a pair of layups from first-year
Josh Kim and a bucket from first-year

Jake Davis drilled a shot from distance and senior
Calvin Kapral put in a jumper for a 15-10 lead midway through the first half.
The Tartans tied the game at 15 and then took a 19-15 lead with 7:28 remaining.
Down four points with just under five minutes remaining in the first half, Rocca hit a 3-pointer to make it a one-point game and sophomore
Anthony Przybilla had an offensive putback, giving the Bears the 27-25 lead with 3:48 on the clock.
Carnegie Mellon closed out the first half on an 8-0 run, heading into the break with the Bears trailing 32-25.
With 15:30 on the clock in the second half, Carnegie Mellon put up five-straight points for a 12-point, 42-30 lead, which would be the largest of the game.
Oliff hit the front end of a pair of free throws and May drained a 3-pointer to cut it back down to eight points, 42-34. Following a CMU jumper, May scored five-straight points to cut it to a five-point, 44-39 game with 12:36 on the clock.
The Tartans hit two free throws before junior
George Gale grabbed an offensive rebound and dished it to May for a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to four points, 46-42. A pair of free throws from May brought it down to two points, 46-44, at 10:58.
Carnegie Mellon went up by as many as seven points in the next few minutes. Down five at 4:41, May hit a jumper and a free throw and a corner 3-pointer from Oliff put WashU ahead 60-59 with just over three minutes to play.
After tying it at 60, the Tartans had a steal and a layup and closed the game out with two free throws for the three-point win.
The Bears shot 19-for-60 (31.7%) with an 11-for-24 clip (45.8%) from 3-point range. WashU edged CMU 46-38 on the boards.
WashU returns to action on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Case Western Reserve.
